Fathers work hard to support and take care of their families whether it is at home or on the job. To honor and thank hardworking dads in the community, the Church of God hosted a Father’s Day appreciation dinner. Members invited not only their dads, but also friends, co-workers and neighbors.
The evening started with an array of refreshments followed by a delicious and comforting meal, which members served with bright smiles. After dinner, members put on a brief presentation acknowledging and thanking fathers for the role they play and the impact that they have on the lives of their children. Sons and daughters read heartfelt poems they wrote for their dads. But the highlight of the night was a poem a father read expressing how much he loves being the father of his 2-year-old daughter.
Throughout the evening, fathers spent quality time with their children. They laughed, talked and even played games including ping-pong and beanbag toss.
One guest visiting Kentucky from the West Coast was so stunned. It was his first time at the church and he couldn’t believe how much fun he could have in a church. The members’ kindness and hospitality moved him to continue visiting the church during his stay in Kentucky.
“Through today’s event, I’m truly moved, it made me realize even more the love and role of fathers. The fathers who came today are great examples,” commented a member.
At the end of the evening, guests expressed their thanks to the church members for the good time they had. They were happy to have shared the special day with the Church of God and looked forward to future visits.
