Sharing Love with Seniors at Aynsley Place

Since the state of New Hampshire is known for its cold weather and lots of snow, the members of the Church of God in Hudson decided to share the warm love of God the Mother with the community. On February 9, 2014, church members spent their Sunday afternoon sharing love with seniors at Aynsley Place at the Courville Communities assisted living facility.

More than a dozen volunteers participated in the event, bringing joy to about 30 residents. Members spent their time talking, laughing and listening to stories of the seniors’ past. For nearly two hours, the members performed songs and dances while the residents sang and danced along with them.

The volunteers stirred up memories of the seniors’ youth with songs like “Unchained Memories,” “Lean on Me” and “Stand by Me.” And they brought back classic moves when the rhythms of Elvis Presley’s “Hound Dog” and Chubby Checker’s “Twist” played.

During the performances, the residents were exuberant and visibly rejuvenated. Even the staff was amazed and gladdened to see how energized the seniors were and how much they enjoyed themselves while engaging in the activities.

Valerie, one of the staff members, was moved to tears as she mentioned how much the volunteers reminded her of her daughter who is serving in the military overseas. She found it unbelievable that youth, like the volunteers from the Church of God, take their time to bring happiness and love to others.

The Church of God in Hudson will continue to inspire its surrounding communities with encouraging events like this one.
