On Monday, April 21, 21 ASEZ STAR volunteers gathered for a cleanup at James Edgar Playground in Brockton, MA. The campaign is part of ASEZ STAR’s global Green School Campaign and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Students and community members dedicated their spring break to an Earth Day movement. They cleaned up James Edgar Playground, a popular spot for local families. The park accumulated trash, leaves, and other debris. However, volunteers removed 65 pounds of waste, significantly improving the park’s cleanliness and safety.
ASEZ STAR Recognized for Their Environmental Protection Efforts
Patrolman Roise, from the Brockton Police Department, stopped by to show support and encourage the volunteers. Suzanne McCormack, PR and Communications Associate from the Office of the Mayor of Brockton, also attended the event. On behalf of the Mayor, she presented ASEZ STAR with a formal citation to recognize the group’s dedication and contributions to the city. She shared heartfelt words with the students, saying, “It warms my heart so much to see all you beautiful faces out here, thank you so much.”
ASEZ STAR supporter Daniel Castaneda also praised the students for their initiative and selflessness during their school break. He said, “Many of our students are currently on spring break, yet they’ve chosen to take time out of their schedules to participate in this park cleanup. They’re working hard to clear debris and remove any hazardous objects, all to help create a safer, cleaner space for families. Thanks to their efforts, the children behind us — and many more — will be able to enjoy this park in a safe and welcoming environment.”
