ASEZ Explores Building AI with a Mother’s Love

ASEZ students in Cambridge, MA hosted a powerful forum titled A Mother’s Love in the Age of AI to explore how compassion, care, and human dignity can shape the future of artificial intelligence.

As AI becomes part of everyday life—from healthcare and education to personal decision-making—many people are starting to feel the impact of technology that responds quickly but lacks true understanding or empathy. The event asked a profound question: What would AI look like if it were built with the heart of a mother?

Expert Insights on AI With a Mother’s Love

The forum brought together leading voices in technology, ethics and social impact: Gabriela Torres Vives, Co-Founder of Sundai & Aethos; James Intriligator, PhD, Professor of the Practice in Human Factors Engineering at Tufts University; and Eshita Pandey, AI Ethics Researcher and Social Impact Technologist.

The event gave students and experts space to consider how technology can protect and uplift people, not replace connection. The discussion focused on embedding empathy into AI, empowering youth to shape future technologies, and aligning AI values with human wellbeing. The forum also aimed to spark long-term collaboration among students, universities, and tech leaders who want AI to reflect human values.

“Like a mother always cares for the smallest child, we also have to be very careful about teaching people how to use this technology [AI] well, to avoid hurting the most vulnerable,” said Dr. Intriligator.

“I loved the topic of Mother’s Love in the Age of AI. It’s so needed, especially in the age we live in,” said Adji, a student at Suffolk University. “People are losing their human touch, so it’s a very necessary topic. I truly hope it gets adopted worldwide.”

The Future of AI with a Mother’s Love

The forum emphasized designing AI with empathy, care, and respect for human dignity. ASEZ volunteers work to continue this discussion and build partnerships ensuring technology serves people, not just efficiency. Prioritizing compassion and thoughtfulness, future leaders can create AI that truly reflects human values.
