ASEZ STAR student volunteers in the Dominican Republic hosted a seedling planting event at El Ensueño Nursery in Santiago to support reforestation and environmental restoration efforts. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving ecosystems, mitigating climate change, and creating a culture of sustainability. Sergio Núñez Parra, Director of Environmental Management at Santiago City Hall, attended the event to show his support and recognize the volunteers’ contributions.

ASEZ STAR – Promoting a Greener World
El Ensueño Nursery, the government-operated nursery in Santiago, plays a key role in national reforestation efforts, supplying seedlings for planting projects across the country. Organizations, environmental groups, and government agencies rely on the nursery to obtain plants that help restore forests, improve air quality, and enhance biodiversity. By hosting the event at this location, ASEZ STAR aligned its efforts with the broader environmental goals of the Dominican Republic.
This initiative was part of the ASEZ STAR global Green World campaign, which empowers students worldwide to take action for a sustainable future. Through education and hands-on activities, the campaign highlights how planting trees helps absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion, provide habitats for wildlife, and combat deforestation. Most importantly, ASEZ STAR’s Green World campaign creates a culture of conservation among young people.

Community Collaboration for a Greener World
During the event, volunteers planted 115 mahogany seeds, a species known for its durability and environmental benefits. Furthermore, volunteers cleaned the entire area, removing debris and weeds to create a healthier growing environment for young plants. Their efforts helped improve the nursery’s conditions while reinforcing the importance of long-term forest conservation.
As a result of their dedication, Sergio Núñez presented ASEZ STAR volunteers with a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Jose Ulises Rodriguez Guzman.
“We are extremely grateful to participate in this cleaning and reforestation event at El Ensueño Nursery,” said Núñez. “This initiative makes a valuable contribution to the environment, especially by cultivating a culture of conservation among these young volunteers, who represent the present and future of our country.”
By taking part in this initiative, ASEZ STAR’s Green World campaign continues to inspire students worldwide to take action for a greener future. Their efforts demonstrate that small, dedicated actions can create lasting environmental change and strengthen global sustainability efforts.
